Course Overview
This course is aimed at those who want to start making use of Access, to move from one level databases associated with holding data in Excel into the realms of multiple table relational databases. The course will cover all the basics of multiple table databases including the advantages and disadvantages. This course is a perfect starting point for a future in data manipulation.
Prerequisites
- Delegates should have some working knowledge of Windows or should have completed the Introduction to Windows course.
- Delegates should feel at ease performing tasks such as arranging, sizing and switching between Windows.
- Previous use of a mouse is assumed on this course.

How to create a single table database.
Using data types, field properties, input masks using the wizard, validation rules, captions, default values, fields required, field size, zero length.
Primary keys.
How to create a multi-table database, (Relational database)
Creating links between tables.
Working with referential integrity. Prevent data in one table being deleted when it has links to data in another table.
Viewing and editing related data in a sub datasheet.
Queries
Theory on using Queries in a database.
How to extract information from your database using queries.
Creating a query from single and multiple tables
How to sort the results of a query.
