Course Overview

This course is designed for individuals who have a need to summarise data using Microsoft Excel's powerful Pivot Table feature. After the course delegates will be able to create pivot tables based on data both within Microsoft Excel and from an external source.

Prerequisites

To ensure your success, you must have a good grounding in Microsoft Excel (to at least our Level 2 course standard or equivalent) and knowledge of relational database structures would be an advantage but is not a requirement.

Objectives

Delegates will be able to:

Summarise a Microsoft Excel datasheet into an easy to understand cross tabular layout (a Pivot Table)
Improve the presentation of that cross tabular data through formatting wizards and/or field settings
Change the default sort order of summarised data
Demonstrate how to change the column layout of a Pivot table
Connect to a Server based database (such as Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle) and create summary pivot tables on the data as required
Show that they can create a chart of summary data
Demonstrate how to dynamically alter the data columns being used in a Pivot Table Summary
