Programming with Visual Basic Course

This course is an introduction to the Visual Basic (VB.NET) programming language. It will cover the basic building blocks of the Visual Basic programming language, such as how .NET is different from traditional programming, defining variables, control structures (If..Else, loops etc) and operators, before moving on to key concepts such as classes, objects, properties and methods. It will then move on to more advanced subjects such as Shared and Abstract behaviour, enumerations and error handling. It will provide delegates with a skill base from which they can go on to develop .NET applications on either the Windows Forms or ASP.NET platforms.

Please note that this is the .NET version of Visual Basic (version 7 and above). It is not suitable if you want to learn VB6 or below, or Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). Please contact us if you are unsure if this is the right course for your VB requirements.

This course concentrates on the C# programming language itself, to fully prepare delegates fully in readiness for using the

.NET Framework/Core. No Object-Orientated knowledge is assumed - the course provides a suitable OO primer. From basic procedural syntax to sophisticated object-oriented programming techniques, delegates will learn how to write .NET applications with code that is robust and maintainable.

The course is presented as a mixture of lectures, demos and hands-on exercises. Practical sessions follow all main topics, designed to reinforce the points covered. Additional information is provided in appendices to extend the learning experience after the course has been completed.

The course provides a good starting point for delegates wishing to undertake Microsoft exam 70-483 (Programming in C#) although further study is likely to be required before sitting the exam.

Excel Advanced Macros Course

This course is designed to introduce you to the Macro environment of Excel, it will provide you with the confidence to record macros in Excel and then be able to gain a better understanding of the code and make changes to it.

We even teach you some commands that cannot be recorded, such as how to show a message to the person who runs the macro.

It will not turn you into a fully-fledged programmer, but you will feel more confident in the Visual Basic Editor, and thus be able to explore more aspects of programming in Excel.

For example, if you record a macro before the course and you make a mistake in the recording, you invariably have to start the recording again. After this course you will be able to step through the code, decide what you wish to keep and what you wish to get rid of, then record an extra part and add it to the code you kept thus running all the code at once.

Important Note : An Excel Macro is created from lines of code of Visual Basic for Applications. These lines of code are stored in a collection called a 'Macro' or a 'Procedure'. It all depends on which angle you are coming from. If you're a programmer, you call these lines of code a Procedure; if you are an advanced user of Excel you call these lines of code a Macro.

The Object Oriented Analysis & Design course focuses on the fundamental concepts of Object Orientation and UML as part of the Software Development Life Cycle.
